I visited New York last week but I didn’t have any wi-fi at my hotel (the router seemed to not be compatible with my Mac
). I said ‘okay, no problem. let’s find a Starbucks!’. And there was one just around the corner. Sweet, I thought. On the window there was a sticker saying that there was an AT&T WiFi Spot. Double sweet.
As soon as I get in touch with the waitress and ask for the connection, I realised that I would have had a hard time. She said I had to buy a Starbuck Gift card, which has a two hours as extra. Weird, but I had to read my email and I bought it.
Now, I am a quite experienced user and I can handle technologies quite well but hey I haven’t been able to connect to the wifi!
The card said I had to connect to starbucks.com/card: once there the only thing that suggests me a possible way to get a wifi account was ‘register’ your card’. And I did click on register. But there was not even a clue to how to connect. Mmmmh!

Where is my wifi?
In the end: I had to come back the day after and it took me a whole hour to understand the process that allow you to get an account and connect to the wifi. Here is how:
1. Go on starbuck.com/card and click on ‘register your card’
2. Click on ‘Join Starbucks card reward’
3. Create a Starbucks account
Over? Not at all. After these steps you also have to register a AT&T account which will then be linked to your card.
I had such a bad time with it and I lost so much time that I thought I had to share it with you, just in case you had the same problems. And to underline how bad some designs and interactions are.
