iPad Prototyping with Fireworks and JQuery

Some time ago I’ve found a quite useful tool called iPrototype (created by these guys). Basically, it is a combo of Fireworks .lbi and Jquery that lets you create navigable prototypes for iPhone. Since I am a hard-core FW user, I’ve adapted iPrototype for the iPad.
You can download it here.

The Context of iPad

Since the iPad launch I have been interested in understanding what context it has been designed for. On one side, I can think of a desk where my computer is positioned. On the other, there is iPhone and the roads, transportation, and temporary places. Where is the iPad supposed to be in the continuum between “static” and the “mobile”?

Aperitivo brings the Italian happy hour on iPhone

Aperitivo is the new application by Mobisle.org (the same authors of Big Pallaudio). This application lets you choose your club from a list of selected ones that can offer an aperitivo. Aperitivo is not a happy hour: Italian clubs tend to make them similar just for business purpose but aperitivo does not mean that you [...]

Exposé for iPhone

Thanks to techcrunch.com I have found this interesting example of a new interaction for the iPhone. The idea is to offer a new way to select the pages of your home screen: some users use to have lots of pages of application and if you are on the first one…going to screen nr.9 it’s just [...]

BumpTop Multitouch is getting real

This is really amazing: your desktop becomes a 3D space, like your room. I appreciated the perspective they have chosen and the idea of having a wall where you can hang up things. Take a look also at how you can crop pictures: nice. I hope to see ideas like this more often in the [...]

Form design: is AM\PM a good choice when designing time selectors?

Nowadays, when usability sounds a little bit old fashioned. But it still gives interaction designers very good challenges.
I was a design a form where the user could select his arrival time. The old solution from which my design started, used a dropdown menu with 24 hour time format. You had 1.00 to 24.00.
I thought that [...]

Search engine: recency or relevancy?

In his interesting article on techcrunch.com, Erick Schonfeld explores the new scenario of real-time search. Twitter and instant blogging are a consequence, and the result, of how we use technology and how technology is changing our lifestyles. Among these transformations, Schonfeld includes a series of new search engines (OneRiot, Collecta that are trying to address [...]

Form design – Please select your ethnicity

Some days ago I was having a look at monster.com, a website for job posting and carrer development. It has a new cool design that I had not explored yet. I think the visual is pretty solid and well-done: the search box lets you choose between your country (the domain you are surfing on, e.g. [...]
